Greenpeace NZ needs a Climate Campaigner
Are you passionate about saving our planet from the impacts of climate change? Are you a dynamic, can do person who can inspire others to get involved?
For over thirty years Greenpeace has been at the frontline defending our planet, and there has never been a more important time to stand up and be counted! The latest science on climate change is truly frightening. We have a very limited window of time in which to turn the situation around. We must make sure that our representatives hear the voices of the average New Zealanders and make the right and necessary commitments to protect our fragile planet.
We are seeking a very special individual who has the vision, energy and dynamism to co-ordinate and implement effective campaign strategies; including the mobilisation of thousands of everyday Kiwis to get active with us in demanding effective action on climate change. This is a crucial position within a motivated and professional cross functional project team. It is a very challenging and exciting role with the opportunity to make a huge difference.
The ideal candidate will have: At least 2 years experience working in advocacy groups/NGOs, with demonstrable understanding of, and skills for, using a wide range of campaign tactics to achieve objectives (non-violent direct action, public mobilisation, working with media, political lobbying, conducting research, engaging the public effectively, context analysis and strategic skills, written and oral communication skills, IT and web literacy), Demonstrable investigative research skills, preferably in relation to environmental issues, Experience of developing and implementing successful campaign strategies, at local, national and global level, Excellent communication and networking skills, Excellent leadership skills, and be a strong team player, The ability to inspire and engage others across the entire social and political spectrum. You will be a creative, innovative thinker with the ability to manage a campaign from strategic planning through to implementation. Experience in successful social change campaigning is highly desirable.
This is a permanent, full-time position, starting salary is $52,785 per annum, and start date is as soon as possible.
